Essential Motorcycle Rental FAQs

Yes. Self-ride rentals require a valid motorcycle licence and suitable prior riding experience. Minimum age and licence-history requirements must be confirmed against the current rental requirements and agreement before booking.
What must I bring when collecting a motorcycle?
Bring your valid motorcycle licence, identity document or passport, and the credit card required for the holding deposit. International riders should confirm whether any additional licence documentation is required.
What is included with my motorcycle rental?
A helmet is included. Jackets and gloves may be available at an additional cost and subject to size and stock availability. Confirm all inclusions in your quotation.
Is daily mileage included?
Yes, but the daily kilometre allowance depends on the applicable offer and rental agreement. Confirm the included allowance on your quotation before accepting the booking.
What happens if I exceed the included kilometres?
Additional kilometres are charged at the rate stated in your quotation and rental agreement. They may be payable by card or cash when the motorcycle is returned.
Can I choose a specific motorcycle model?
Yes. You can request a preferred model, but availability must be confirmed for your selected dates. A suitable alternative may be discussed if that motorcycle is unavailable.
Insurance and Deposits
Deposit, waiver and cover questions
Is there a rental holding deposit?
Yes. The holding deposit is model-dependent. Compare the motorcycles and confirm the exact amount in your quotation before booking.
How is the holding deposit handled?
A credit card is required. Release of the hold is subject to the motorcycle’s return condition, outstanding charges and the applicable rental agreement.
How long can the bank release take?
Current guidance is approximately 7 to 10 working days after release, depending on the bank. Bank processing times are not controlled by West Coast Motorcycles.
What insurance and waiver terms apply?
Cover, waiver or excess amounts, optional protection and exclusions can depend on the motorcycle and booking terms. Review the exact written cover and liability information before payment and collection.
Is the motorcycle inspected before and after rental?
Yes. The motorcycle is inspected with the client before and after the rental period. Pre-existing damage should be recorded during handover.
Guided Tours
Guided motorcycle-tour questions
Which guided tours are available?
Options include Chapman’s Peak, Cape Peninsula, Hermanus, Four Passes and multi-day Western Cape and Garden Route experiences. Availability depends on dates and conditions.
How long are the guided tours?
Half-day tours are generally 4 to 5 hours and full-day tours approximately 8 to 9 hours. The Western Cape and Garden Route tour is presented as a 13-day, 12-night experience. Confirm the current itinerary before booking.
Can guided tours be customised?
Yes. Curated routes can be requested outside the standard collection. Pricing depends on distance, duration, group size, accommodation, activities and support requirements.
What should I ask before booking?
Ask about route distance, riding pace, planned stops, weather arrangements, motorcycle availability, passenger options and what is included in the quoted price.
